The clocks haven't gone back yet, but you can feel it coming – shorter days, cooler mornings, that first proper wind that strips the leaves off the trees. Autumn is when a lot of us start paying attention to our immune systems again, and it's exactly the right time to build a bit of a ritual before you actually need it.
We lean on four mushrooms and one blend to get through the season, each doing something slightly different:
- Chaga – our go-to for upper respiratory and immune support.
- Reishi – calming, centring, traditionally associated with the heart chakra. Good for when the autumn winds start picking up, literally and figuratively.
- Lion's Mane – for focus, memory and cutting through brain fog as the darker mornings make it harder to get going.
- Tremella – often overlooked, but brilliant for the gut, and for skin, hair and nails through a season that tends to dry everything out. Sometimes called nature's hyaluronic acid, thanks to its role in cellular hydration.
- The Seven Mix – if you want broad support rather than targeting one specific thing, this is the one.
Targeted vs. broad support
Think of it like this: if you've got one specific thing you're working on – energy, focus, calm, immune resilience – go to the mushroom that's known for that. If you want general, well-rounded support through the season without overthinking it, the Seven Mix does that job. Neither is "better" – it depends what you're actually trying to solve.
How to build the ritual
Most of our customers keep it simple: Chaga or the Seven Mix in the morning for immune support, Reishi in the evening to wind down, and Lion's Mane on days that need real focus. Tremella can go in daily – it's gentle enough to sit alongside anything else you're taking.
(A little brag, but we think it's worth mentioning: our mushrooms are sourced from the Changbai Mountains in northern China, grown on the right wood substrate – the wood mushrooms actually recognise, not oats, rye or soy – or wild-harvested, and heavy metal tested on site at Flourish Labs in Oregon. We then spot test again here in the UK – every few batches, an extra check, just to be sure.)
